About the Event

The Mapping Accessible Futures Symposium brings together leading thinkers on accessible mapping from a wide range of different disciplinary perspectives. The Symposium seeks to bridge interdisciplinary conversations and collaborations towards sustainable, responsive, adaptive, and intersectional accessible mapping solutions.

The public presentations and roundtable sessions will be open to the public. all  non-presenters (those not given a formal invite) will be asked to attend online.

​Public Sessions
  • 10:00 Welcome, Access & Orientations
  • ​1010-11:40 Lab introductions 5-10 minutes each (If you have slides, share through zoom)
    • Name(s)
    • High level intro to how each lab/project works on accessibility/equity and mapping 
    • What aspects of the accessibility mapping challenbge is your lab most passionate about or best poised to lead work around?
    • (If helpful, show us an example of your work? or example of things you have developed that can support everyone else’s work)
  • 11: 40 Break & informal discussion & Q & A
  • 12:00 - 1:00: Collaborative Roundtable around key questions
    • ​What are some of your hopes for what access mapping could be or do within 5 years if we had the right team/funding/time?
    • What do you see as some of the big questions or challenges on the road to achieving this?
    • (How) do the diverse disciplines help us meet some of those challenges?
